Dual Citizenship Information
The Citizenship Retention and Re-acquisition Act of 2003 (Republic Act 9225) shall apply to former natural-born citizens of the Philippines, as defined by Philippine law and jurisprudence, who have lost their Philippine citizenship by reason of their naturalization as citizens of another country.
Corollary to the above, a former natural-born citizen of the Philippines who is abroad and is not a foreigner registered with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) shall file a petition under oath with the Philippine Embassy for the issuance of an Identification Certificate (IC) pursuant to Republic Act 9225.
Currently, only Sweden and Finland have passed dual citizenship laws as of 01 July 2003. Former Filipinos who have been naturalized citizens of either Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania may apply, but they may be required to renounce their current citizenship in the absence of the relevant dual citizenship law in the host countries.
Below are the requirements.

Accomplished application form in triplicate

Six (6) recent passport-sized photographs of the applicant taken against a royal blue background

Any of the following documents showing proof of Filipino citizenship:

Philippine birth certificate
-
Old or valid Philippine passport
-
Voter’s affidavit or voter’s identification card
-
Marriage contract indicating the Philippine citizenship of the applicant
-
Such other documents that show that the applicant is a former natural-born citizen of the Philippines and as may be accepted by the Embassy's Consular Section
4. Marriage certificate, if applicable
5. Proof of acquisition of foreign citizenship (e.g. bevis om svensk medborgarskap from the Swedish Migration Board) in English and authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country from where the document was issued.
6. Swedish Passport
7. Three (3) photocopies of each of the original documents listed 3 to 6 above
8. Payment of SEK824 (inclusive of bank charge)

Important notes:

The applicant shall be required to personally take his/her Oath of Allegiance before an authorized official of the Embassy

The Embassy shall issue an Identification Certificate (IC) to the applicant once he/she has taken the Oath of Allegiance and whose application has been forwarded to the Bureau of Immigration (BI)

Filipino citizenship re-acquired under Republic Act 9225 may be revoked by the competent Philippine authorities upon a substantive finding of fraud, misrepresentation or concealment on the part of the applicant
- Republic Act 9225 provides for the acquisition of Philippine citizenship by children, 18 years old and younger, of former natural-born Filipinos who have successfully re-acquired Philippine citizenship under the provisions of the same law. For concerned qualified applicants, the following additional requirements shall be submitted:

Birth certificate/s of the minor children included in the petition of the applicant

Payment of SEK196 per child included in the petition of the applicant
